THE Booragul jetty will be rebuilt under a $313,500 contract approved by Lake Macquarie City Council.

The council accepted a tender from Kilaben Bay company Hunter Wharf and Barge for the design and building of the public jetty on the shore reserve.

The company will demolish the old jetty.

A council report said the jetty's main piles and deck would be made of concrete.

Commercial and charter operations that can handle the 2.1-metre to 2.4-metre water depth will be allowed to use the jetty.
