WILD weather on Thursday night knocked down spans of a Sydney Water jetty being used in the construction of the Illawarra Waste Water Strategy's deep ocean outfall.

"The jetty is not actually part of the outfall but we are using it in the construction process," a spokeswoman said.

"No damage was done to the outfall which we are actually working on, but we will have to repair the jetty before the construction can continue."

She said rough conditions yesterday meant staff couldn't get out to inspect the damaged jetty and therefore couldn't predict what repairs had to be made or when they would be completed.
